Pawpaw is a small tree that grows up to 35 feet in height. The leaves are large and turn a rusty yellow during the fall that be spotted from a distance. The fruit is large with a yellowish-green color. The fruit is edible and has big seeds inside and are consumed by humans and a variety of mammals. Deer tend to leave the tree alone because of the natural insecticide (acetogenins) that grows in the leaves and twigs.
