The Water Oak can grow to heights of 50–80 feet and have a spread of 50 to 80 feet at full maturity. Water oak acorns are eaten by white-tailed deer, squirrels, and wild turkeys. The Water Oak grows best in well-drained soils. This species has been used for timber and for fuel by people since the 17th century.
