White oak reaches a mature size of 80 to 100 feet in height and 3 to 4 feet in diameter. The white oak can grow on a wide variety of upland sites, but attains best growth on deep, well-drained loamy soils. The wood is used for lumber, barrels, furniture, tools, interior finish, flooring and fuel. The acorns are sweet and a preferred food of deer, bear, turkeys, squirrels and other wildlife. White oak makes an impressive ornamental tree for large landscapes.
