Bur oak is a large, deciduous tree with a very wide, open crown, the tree can exceed 100 ft. in height and width. Tolerant of a variety of moisture and soil conditions, it produces flowers shortly after the leaves appear in mid-April. The fringed acorns of the Bur Oak are a preferred food ford wild turkey, white-tailed deer, rabbits, mice, squirrels, and rodents.
